AUTOMATIC PARKING ASSIST
Whether you’re heading out into the wilderness for a long weekend away from it all or just swinging by your local café on the way to work, you’ll need a solid engine to get you there.
Both the 2022 GMC Terrain and the Chevy Equinox come equipped with 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder engines that offer 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque.
But it isn’t just power that gets you where you need to go—it’s how you use that power. The Chevy Equinox pairs its engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The GMC Terrain offers a 9-speed automatic transmission, so you may notice a smoother ride as there are more levels of power to adjust to your driving conditions—great for winding mountain roads.
When it comes to day-to-day driving comfort, both the 2022 GMC Terrain and the Chevy Equinox have comparable interiors and overall maximum cargo space. They also both offer some very handy driver assistance technologies. Available on both compact SUVs are:
- Rear Park Assist
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- High-Definition Surround Vision
In addition to these features, the GMC Terrain also offers an available automatic parking assist. This driver-assistance technology will search for a parking space and steer your vehicle into it, instructing you when to accelerate, brake and shift. With this feature, you’ll have an extra set of eyes looking for the best spot at the grocery store, and you won’t have to send your passenger out to direct you.
Without this digital copilot on the Equinox, you’ll be craning your neck in every direction and cracking the door open to make sure you’re in the lines.
Nothing is more important than safety on the road. Luckily, both the GMC Terrain and the Chevy Equinox come standard with full safety suites prepared for just about anything you might run into on your way to the great outdoors. These standard features include:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Forward Collision Alert
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
Both compact SUVs also offer available extra safety features as you increase trim levels—the Safety Alert Seat, for example. This feature causes a physical sensation in the driver’s seat to alert you of possible hazards. Having this extra warning can be convenient in every case - and lifesaving in a select few.
Safety Alert Seating is available on every trim above the base level - and standard on the highest trim - of the GMC Terrain. However, this is only an available option on the highest trim level of the Chevy Equinox.
