Trim Levels (Exterior)
In 2020, the GMC Acadia was updated with a new yet attractive exterior profile, featuring a rugged front grille and more alloy wheel choices. The 2021 GMC Acadia includes these 2020 updates and more. Now, it has a powerful appearance, thanks to its clean and square lines. And like the previous year model, it is available in five trims, which are SL, SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali. All trims feature standard C-shaped LED headlamps and tail lamps, plus LED daytime running lamps. Three new exterior color options are available for 2021: Hunter Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, and Cayenne Red Tintcoat.
Engine (Power)
The base trim SL comes with a 2.5-liter V-4 engine that provides 193 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. A 3.6-liter V-6 offering 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque is also available. With the V-6 option, the 2021 GMC Acadia will tow a maximum of 4000 lbs. Either engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and features front-wheel drive, although all-wheel-drive is available. A third option is a turbocharged 2-liter engine with 230 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, which is available with SLT and Denali trims.
Performance
This family-friendly SUV provides stable and responsive performance. An adaptive suspension is standard with the top-tier Denali trim, which makes driving over bumps a smoother process. Also, the SLT-2 trims equipped with an all-wheel drive offer an optional adaptive suspension.
Interior
The 2021 GMC Acadia features up to 79 cubic feet of cargo space, as well as split seats that fold flat. These flexible seats provide optimal comfort. A power liftgate that delivers hands-free performance is also available. The base trim comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, cloth upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, five USB ports, and seating for seven people. For added comfort, you can sacrifice one seating space in the second row for the available second-row captain's chairs.
Additionally, three rows of seats are standard on most trims. But if you choose the AT4 trim, which is designed for off-road adventure, your SUV will seat five.
Safety Features
All Acadia models offer with standard safety features like a rear cross-traffic alert system, HD rear vision camera, electronic parking brake, and airbag system. A LATCH system is also standard, which is equipped with tethers and anchors that make it simpler to install a child restraint seat. Lane change alert with side blind zone alert systems and passenger sensing systems are also standard on all trims. Every trim includes OnStar and GMC Connected Services capability. Higher trims, starting with the SLT, feature a lane keep assist with lane departure warning system.
