The newly updated GMC Sierra 1500 offers a range with its available engine options. It includes the enhanced 2.7L Turbo engine, which offers more boost than the previous model year with 420 lb-ft of torque, which is 20% more than the output of the previous model year.

The truck also offers similar engine options with the 5.3L V8 and the 6.2L V8. However, the 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel will deliver up to 277 horsepower (best in class for diesel engines) and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Towing Capabilities

Given the various engine options available with the 2022 Sierra 1500, we can expect to see an impressive range of abilities when it comes to towing. While the core engines pretty much remain the same with their already impressive towing capabilities, it’s the 2.7L Turbo and the 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel that shine.

The 2.7L Turbo engine can tow up to 9,400 pounds when properly equipped. Meanwhile, the 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel has a maximum 13,000-pound towing capacity when properly configured.

Technology Updates

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 has a lot to offer in terms of its impressive array of technology features. It can come with the all-new available 13.4-inch diagonal horizontal touchscreen that offers customization to allow you to tailor the settings to your liking. There’s also the optional 12.3-inch diagonal Driver Information Center that can be customized.

The Sierra 1500 also comes with Google built-in. This provides direct access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play, all accessible through the infotainment screen. This adds the connectivity with the already standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, which allows you to select your phone’s apps, text messages, contacts, and media right from the screen.
