TOUCHSCREEN
Long road trips can fly by when you have the benefit of advanced technology in the cabin. That’s why the GMC Acadia and Chevy Traverse are locked and loaded with infotainment features.
They both feature high-definition touchscreen displays that give you user-friendly control over your entertainment. In the Acadia, however, the standard screen is eight inches, while in the Traverse, it is seven inches. You can also connect to your smartphone through Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, which comes standard in both vehicles.
If you want to listen to some music, you’ll feel like you’re at a concert, thanks to the available Bose® premium audio system in both models.
Entertainment is only part of the equation when you’re traveling, however, whether your destination is across the country or around the corner. Comfort also comes into play, and the interior of the GMC Acadia stands out in this regard by ensuring every passenger is at ease.
Both the Acadia and the Traverse have available features like power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats with lumbar control, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated seats for the rear passengers. You can also get 8-way power driver’s seats in either model.
Up until now, these two SUVs have been closely matched. What will happen when it comes to engine specs? Power and handling go hand-in-hand with these two dynamic SUVs, and that type of appealing performance starts under the hood.
The 2022 GMC Acadia has a couple available engine choices, so you can find the blend of power that appeals the most to you:
- 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder: 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque
- 3.6L V6: 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque
If you’re hoping for efficiency, the Acadia delivers. Its base configuration boasts an EPA-estimated 22 city/29 highway MPG.
Turning to the Traverse, there is only one option under the hood. It’s a 3.6L V6 engine with 310 horsepower. This one falls short of that found in the Acadia, however, with just 266 lb-ft of torque. The absence of a more efficient engine also means that the Traverse can only manage an EPA-estimated 18 city/27 highway MPG.
As you explore the open road in the Acadia feeling the roar of your engine, you’ll feel secure, thanks to GMC Pro Safety Plus. This safety suite comes standard with the following features:
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Forward Collision Alert
- Rear Park Assist
- Following Distance Indicator
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- IntelliBeam®
The Chevy Traverse comes with many of the same standard features, thanks to Chevy Safety Assist. Rear Park Assist, however, is one system that’s only standard with the Acadia. It will alert you if you get too close to a potential obstacle. It may even apply the brakes in emergency scenarios.
This heavyweight clash featuring the 2022 GMC Acadia vs. Chevy Traverse shows how well-rounded the Acadia is for growing families near Fishers, Indianapolis, and Noblesville, IN.
