The GMC Terrain Experience
The Terrain comes equipped with a 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder dual overhead cam design with Direct-Injection and Variable Valve Timing (VVT) engine. It is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and gear range select for smooth and effortless shifting. With this configuration, the Terrain can deliver power outputs of up to 175 horsepower, 203 lb-ft of torque, and when properly equipped, it has a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.
Also included in the Terrain’s design is the Automatic Stop/Start feature. When the vehicle comes to a complete stop, either at a light or sign, and the driver keeps their foot planted on the brake pedal, it can cause the engine to turn off. This is done to help you conserve precious fuel by preventing the waste of fuel while idling. When you’re ready to get moving again, all you need to do is release the pedal and the engine will automatically restart and you’re on your way.
Another terrific feature of the GMC Terrain is StabiliTrak, an electronic stability control system with Traction Control. The former helps you stay on your intended path when sensors detect a difference between your intended path and the direction the vehicle is heading in. It fixes this through by adjusting the brakes and engine torque.
Traction Control takes over when it detects wheel slippage. It corrects this by applying brake pressure and reducing engine power to help you maintain control when accelerating on wet or snow-covered roads.
